Pi del Nord
Essence of the wine
Pi del Nord symbolizes the origins of Pinord, paying tribute to the original estate, known by locals as Pi del Nord. This signature wine was created by Joan Josep Tetes, who aimed to craft a wine that reflects his personal style and the winery’s history, maintaining a strong connection to the family’s roots in winemaking. A truly unconventional wine, the result of Joan Josep Tetes’ creative vision, designed to be unique and full of personality. Limited production: 5,980 bottles.
Variety
Cabernet Sauvignon 100%
Terroir
The grapes come from the Vinya dels Avis de Mas Muntanyans vineyard, a clay-limestone terroir, ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon. The proximity to the Mediterranean Sea provides a refreshing breeze that benefits the vines, while the parcel’s location protects the vines, creating a mild and balanced climate, perfect for viticulture.
Winemaking Process
Hand-harvested, destemmed, and meticulously selected. Fermentation takes place in 2,000-liter cubic oak vats, combining different types of French oak. The wine is then aged in new French oak barrels for 60 months before bottling. Bottle aging lasts for at least 2 years before release.
Appearance
Dark mahogany color with garnet hues.
Aroma
On the nose, it reveals ripe black fruit aromas, such as cherry and plum, accompanied by delicate spicy notes of black pepper and cinnamon. Hints of oak barrel aging appear, with nuances of chocolate, cocoa, and licorice, along with a distinct minerality that adds depth and complexity.
Taste
A refined, full-bodied wine with remarkable complexity. The nose aromas carry through, but with greater intensity, highlighting red and black fruit, spicy notes, and delicate woody undertones. The minerality from the limestone-rich soil remains present, delivering a balanced, elegant, and gastronomic finish.
Serving temperature
18º
Food pairing and serving
An ideal wine to accompany red meats, such as a beef tenderloin or roasted lamb. It also pairs perfectly with dishes like grilled rabbit or confit duck. Its smooth tannins and complexity make it an excellent match for aged cheeses like Manchego or Pecorino, as well as foie gras or pâté. At the table, it also complements spiced dishes, such as a beef stew, and desserts with dark chocolate or red fruits, which enhance its deep, spicy notes.
