D.O. Cava
Marrugat Demi Sec
Essence of the wine
Josep Mª Tetas wanted to pay a special tribute to his wife, Antonia Marrugat, by creating a brand dedicated to long-aged cavas. This is how Marrugat was born, a line of cavas that embodies our family’s dedication and passion for crafting excellent products. With Antonia’s surname as a symbol, MARRUGAT cavas represent elegance, patience, and tradition, standing as a benchmark of quality and distinction in the world of cava.
Variety
Xarel·lo 50%, Parellada 30%, Macabeu 20%,
Terroir
Unique plots of limestone and clay soils, combined with excellent sun exposure and natural ventilation, create ideal conditions for winemaking. The significant temperature variations between day and night enhance flavour concentration while preserving the natural acidity of the native grape varieties—both essential for crafting top-quality Cava.
Winemaking Process
Each grape variety is harvested and vinified separately. After manual harvesting, the grapes undergo a careful pressing to obtain the free-run juice. This juice is then subjected to static settling for 24-48 hours before undergoing its first fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Subsequently, the blending takes place, and using the traditional method, the second fermentation occurs in the bottle. The bottles rest in underground cellars for a minimum of 17 months before clarification and disgorging.
Appearance
Pale yellow in color with greenish hues, this cava features a fine and elegant bubble.
Aroma
On the nouse is fresh and elegant nose, with excellent aromatic complexity. Subtle notes of white fruits like green apple and pear are complemented by light citrus hints. As it is exposed to air, nuances of toasted bread and nuts emerge, reflecting its aging process and adding depth while maintaining a pleasant sense of freshness.
Taste
It's balanced and smooth, with a fine, persistent bubble that brings a refreshing quality. The well-integrated acidity gives liveliness to the wine, while the fruity flavors of apple and citrus combine with a subtle creaminess, leaving a slightly salty and refreshing finish. The medium aging gives it a complex yet harmonious structure, with a pleasant aftertaste that invites you to keep enjoying it.
Serving temperature
6º
Food pairing and serving
With its freshness and complexity, is perfect for pairing with seafood dishes like oysters, grilled prawns, or tuna carpaccio.
